Moonset over Punta Colonet
Punta Colonet is a beautiful isolated peninsula that juts out into the California Current. It is a nearly flat plateau, with one of the most extensive systems of vernal pools in Baja California. The marine climate sustains a variety of plants that are unique to the peninsula or only occur in a few other places.

To the right in these images is where the Baja California government proposes a $2 billion port to rival that of Los Angeles and Long Beach, which threatens the ecology of the entire region.
