Condor country, Sierra San Pedro Mártir
The California Condor is the largest bird in North America. Mexico’s only population of this magnificent bird occurred here until the middle of the 20th century, when it was extirpated, presumably because of hunting.
The Sierra San Pedro Mártir is the most pristine and unpolluted area within the historic range of the Condor, and since 2004 the birds are flying here again, over the land seen in this photo.
