Bergerocactus over Salsipuedes
Bergerocactus emoryi, or golden-spined cactus, is a typical plant of northwest Baja California. It glows in the sun, and lends a golden-green color to landscapes that turn brown in the summer.
Here we are looking down at Salsipuedes and Costa Azul, the last intact area of coastal vegetation between Ensenada and the border. Although the area was zoned to protect the area from development, a liquified natural gas importation facility is being built here to supply markets on both sides of the border.
