Virgen de Guadalupe waterfall
The Sierra Juáagrave;rez lie to the north of the Sierra San Pedro Máagrave;rtir. On the eastern flank is a steep escarpment of granite that drains to desert saline lakes formed by the San Andreas fault. This peak, known as La Virgen de Guadalupe dominates the view from the east.
Here we find bare rocks, deep pools of water, palm trees, and sparse vegetation in the transition between Californian mediterranean habitats and the Sonoran desert. Desert mountain sheep are still seen here regularly.
