Canyons of Nueva York
To the east of San Quintín lies an uninhabited area of canyons and plateaus, called “Nueva York”—perhaps because of the deep canyons and dramatic landscapes?
Due to light grazing, care of the land, and absence of exotic weeds, this land is nearly unchanged from at least 300 years ago, if not longer. Can we find a way to preserve this area, or is it destined to the the same fate as areas to the north—overgrazing, loss of diversity due to invasive plant species and unplanned development?
