Gopher snake skin
As a snake grows, its skin is unable to stretch to a new size, and is discarded. Even the coverings of the eyes are shed, and the snake emerges with shiny new skin.

This is probably from a gopher snake, Pituophis catenifer, found here in the indigenous community of Necua in the Valle de Guadalupe.
